West Bromwich Albion's Saido Berahino was bailed until December
A police spokeswoman said the 21-year-old's car had been travelling at "high speed" on the southbound carriageway.
Berahino is due to return to a Cheshire police station for questioning early in December.

West Bromwich Albion and England striker Saido Berahino is to be questioned after being arrested for drink-driving.
The footballer was stopped on the M6 near junction 20 for Lymm, Cheshire, just before 04:00 BST on 22 October.A police spokeswoman said the 21-year-old's car had been travelling at "high speed" on the southbound carriageway.
Berahino is due to return to a Cheshire police station for questioning early in December.
